LookAway 1.11 - Automations, Focus Filters, and more

Another big update is here, packed with features to make LookAway an even more seamless part of your workflow. Power users, this one’s for you!

Automations

Many of you wanted LookAway to perform specific actions when a break starts or ends, like pausing Spotify or updating your Slack status. With Automations, you can now do exactly that.

Automations let you run AppleScripts or trigger Apple Shortcuts whenever a break begins or ends. To learn more about setting up Automations, click here.

Focus Filters

Now, you can add LookAway to Focus Filters, so it automatically pauses whenever a Focus Mode is active.

How to Add LookAway to Focus Filters:

1. Open System Preferences and go to Focus.
2. Select the Focus mode where you want LookAway to pause.
3. Under Focus Filters, click Add Filter and find LookAway in the list.
4. Select LookAway and enable it for this focus mode.

That’s it! LookAway will now auto-pause when this Focus Mode is active.

Screen recording & sharing detection

LookAway can now automatically pause when it detects that you're recording or sharing your screen.

To enable this, go to LookAway Settings → Work Mode, and enable Screen Recording as a High Engagement Activity.

Note: This feature is in beta and does not currently work with QuickTime Player screen recordings.

Other notable additions

These are some small enhancements and fixes to make LookAway even better:

We’ve also added some small but impactful improvements:

• Auto-Lock Screen During Breaks – You can now enable automatic screen locking when a break starts. Toggle this in Rest Mode settings.
• End Break Option for Longer Breaks – If LookAway determines that you’ve rested enough, it will replace the Skip Break button with an End Break button, allowing you to end the break early without penalties.
• Disable Dimming for Wellness Reminders – You can now turn off screen dimming when posture or blink reminders appear. Find this option in Wellness Reminder settings.
• Faster Video Playback Detection – LookAway now detects video playback quicker than before.
• App Refocus Fix – Fixed a bug where the previous app wouldn't regain focus after a break ended.
• Improved Break Countdown Design – The break countdown has been redesigned for better clarity and aesthetics.
